Damn it’s been another month! Although my last post states that the topic of this blog would be something else, a lot can happen in a month and the things you want to talk about changes.
I got my first 2 CDs at a thrift shop for 2 dollars (tax not included) and it was 2 dollars (tax not included) well spent! One is a compilation called “the only big band cd you’ll ever need” and the other is an album called “stunt” by barenaked ladies. I listened to stunt all the way through but the big band cd I’ve only covered a handful of tracks as there are 20 of them.
I dipped my toes into big band music and I have to say it’s really great! So great that I’m listening to the cd as I write this (track 20 “sing, sing, sing” my favorite) I’m guessing the tracks were recorded pretty long ago because it has this old grainy 30s vinyl feel that makes it all the more immersive and enjoyable!! (Note: I just checked the back of the cd case and the tracks were recorded from 1977 all the way to 1927!! So they are OLD) Some of the tracks are swing jazz which I also love because I adore another genre that sprang off of it called electroswing which is what it sounds like!
Now for stunt by barenaked ladies. You might know them for their banger song “one little slip” featured in the best movie of all time Chicken Little and they also made the bigbang theory intro) I LOVE this album the production is amazing the lyrics are amazing even the visuals in the booklet are amazing. This is also something I like about the cds, the booklets, which makes me want to get some cds of other albums I like so I can see was the artists did for the booklets as well as the cd design (which is also something great about stunt)
This blog post was mainly talking about the physicality of having CDs. It's such an interesting experience! Putting the disc into the player, having a physical dial to change the volume, pressing the buttons. (now that I’m typing that this sounds really autistic) there are also no ads!! It’s just music! Imagine having ads in your cd like they do with dvds (btw they are ads in movie dvds that play before the selection scene. some dvds let you skip, some don’t. I felt like I had to say that for some people who didn’t use dvds growing up. Btw cds are for music and dvds are for videos believe it or not some people don’t know that lol)
Okay that’s all I got to say (no real sign off yet)(maybe that should be my sign off “Okay that’s all i got to say” a bit of a mouth full…
